Bepe Boatright Kafka

Bepe Boatright Kafka was born in Newport News, Virginia, and even as a toddler loved nothing more than drawing. She fell in love with oil paint at the age of twelve. She received her BFA from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, and her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania, studying with Neil Welliver, Janet Fish, Rackstraw Downes, Yvonne Jacquette, and other contemporary realist painters.
When fate took her to Utah for fifteen years she connected profoundly with that magnificent landscape. Now she has discovered her deep roots in the wild, green mountains of Southwest Virginia. Her subject matter is dappled light, lichened stones, moss, and the ancient and mysterious life of the forest.
