Terry Clark
For over half a century, Terry Clark has danced with wood, coaxing form from grain and spirit from timber. His journey began in earnest at Berea College in Kentucky, where he received his first formal instruction in art and earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts, with a focus on woodworking. There, his hands were shaped as much by discipline as by passion. Assigned to the college’s storied Woodcraft program, Terry began as a student apprentice, crafting traditional furniture destined for the campus craft outlet. His skill and dedication soon elevated him to student foreman, and eventually, to master craftsman in the service of the college.
In 1978, Terry set down roots in the rugged beauty of Grayson County, Virginia. It was here—amid the native hardwoods—that his voice as a woodturner deepened and matured. His creations span the spectrum from functional vessels to fine art, each piece echoing his signature elegance and attention to grace, proportion, and the quiet lift of a well-turned foot.
In recent years, Terry has ventured into the whimsical world of Steampunk—where polished wood meets the glint of metal and the poetry of found objects. His sculptures and home accessories, especially his luminous lamps, marry tradition with imagination. He delights in the challenge of weaving electric pathways through complex designs, allowing his technical curiosity and mischievous humor to shine in equal measure.
